Honor

Truth..
Honor..
Fidelity..

Funny little words. They're funny little words that get such an interpretive dance based upon the user.

How do you define truth? honor? What does fidelity mean to you?

Is someone only truthful if they never lie? What is the barrier breached when you lose your honor?

Is it a matter of intent? I don't think so. I think to purely make the definition contingent upon intent would deny the very nature of the offense. It's like forgetting the breach of trust in the first place and only focusing on the rationale behind it.

How do you measure truthfulness, honor, or fidelity in a lifestyle such as this? A lifestyle littered with internet anonymity and scene names. Where relationships are played like a shell game jostling around screen ID's and alternate identities.. On one site you may be a female slave.. on another a sub woman with switch tendencies.. and on still another yet, a domme.

Do we not trust because of the nature of the relationships or because of the nature of this lifestyle? Do we give ourselves permission to lie or cheat because this bears no impact on our 'real life'? Do we do it because we feel somehow empowered enough to believe we maintain mutually exclusive lives, roles or identities?
